Spring Flowers and Water Balloon Fights!!!

So, today the weather forecast called for severe thunderstorms and conditions. However, we had a little wind and some dark clouds then "hello sunshine"!!! We were going to buy one of the monster sized pools for the boys as the one we have used for the last two years is a bit small for the ever growing preteen boys that we have. However, the weather forecast deterred us from purchasing one. It's a good thing though because I wouldn't have gotten a front row seat to the first water balloon fight of the year otherwise! I am also posting pictures of our first roses. My sweet husband and precious sons buy rose bushes for me every year (one for each child I've given birth to--for a total of 4 rose bushes a year) and I am always super excited when they start blooming.

Lazy Sunday

The boys were out playing this morning since it was so beautiful out. I looked out the window to check on them and they were all three in the hammock watching birds. Of course, I had to get the camera out and take some pictures!

A Day at the Museum

Ian is doing a scrapbook and report for his Alabama History class. One of the many things that he has to have is pictures and information from the Pike County Pioneer Museum. We have lived here for several years and have never toured the entire museum. Ian got quite a bit of information for his project and Orion absolutely LOVED all the "old antique stuff" that they had there. James tagged along just to see if he could score a toy out of the deal but ended up enjoying the trip!!

Planting Season

Today was such a beautiful day to spend outside and start our Spring gardens. I say gardens because each of our sons have their own flower gardens and then Steven and I of course have ours. The boys take such great pride in their flower beds. They weeded this week and prepped the soil today. The planting is always a bit chaotic because they want us to "supervise"--not help--to ensure that they are doing every step correctly. Of course this isn't easy with a camera in one hand lol (please ignore the storage shed as it needs to be power washed).

Our first "mini azaleas" of the year. I am sure there is another name for them but that is what I call them.
First rosebud of the year. This is one of the tropicana roses.
I love these little delicate flowers :-)

Prepping the soil for planting.
Orion's jack in the pulpit plant right before he planted it.
Getting it just right.
Diligently planting his seeds.

It's been one of those days :-)

With all the horrible weather yesterday, the boys did not get to go outside and run off all their extra energy at school or here at home. Needless to say we were ALL happy that the sun came out today!! The boys were in rare form with their joking and playing. The really strange, off the wall picture of Orion is all due to James and his timing. As I was setting up the shot of my sweet blue eyed boy, James comes running up, screaming like a banshee and Orion all but peed his pants. One of the funniest pictures I have gotten of him in quite some time. The one of James on the swing is a perfect example of his creativity when he pouts :-) I didn't get any pictures of Ian joking around this time. He is growing up so much!!
